Question by smiley<3: How do i get back into dancing shape?
This year I took a break from dancing after doing it for 10 years. I really would like to get into it again because I may be attending a preforming arts school for musical theatre. I really need some good tips on stretching as well as tips to get my moves back (ex. double turns) thanks!

Definitely take up pilates. Even if it’s a DVD or a free video off youtube, pilates is a god send to dancers, as it gives the core strength and limberness needed.
As for getting back into the moves, work on balances (one footed in retire, first on flat, then take it to releve), and start building up the pirouettes… as annoying as it is, it really is helpful. Start with quarter turns. Once those are mastered with out wobbling on the turn or landing, do half turns. Repeat adding a bit each time (sequence = quarter, half, single, one-and-a-half, double). DO NOT move on to the larger turn until you feel strong in the one you have been working on. Also, make sure you have your spotting down.
