How do you get back together with someone you had a long term relationship with?

I was contacted by my ex 6 months after he left our 9 year relationship and he wanted to get back together. Well we decided we would and then he told me he just wanted to date me. I am having a hard time with this. Is this a normal thing or am I overthinking this. He does’t cal me very often and it is hard because I feel like I am the one doing all the work. What should I do?

maybe he wants to ease into it and not rush things and take it slow. i dont know if it will be the same though after the 6 month break up. maybe he just really misses you and thinks that being with you will make it all better, but for whatever reason you guys broke up, those reasons will still be there. you guys are going to have to try and work past them if you really want this to last.
