How do I get my parents back together?
My parents just told us yesterday that they were getting divorced. I didn’t know how to respond so I just locked myself in my room the rest of the night. Now more than anything I want to get them back together but I have no idea how to do it. My dad is moving out tonight and were gonna go house hunting soon. I really need an idea fast and really fast.

I remember when my parents divorced. I’d lock myself in the bathroom and cry for hours. I begged them to get back together. They never did.
I’m old enough to share this with you Ryan. I know it seems that right now the world is falling apart and you want to save everyone that you love. Try to understand that even though it hurts so bad right now that in time it does get a lot better.
My parents never stopped loving me. They loved one another because they had me and my brother. That never stopped either. But sometimes when 2 people can’t live together anymore it just means that life has something different for them to do. That they need to move in a different direction. It will all be fine. I promise you that.

Honey, this is their decision; however, you should ask them if they would both sit down and at least hear your thoughts and feelings regarding this. Since it dramatically affects you, they owe you that much.

This has nothing to do with you. You can’t fix it. There are reasons you can’t even fathom right now for the failure of this marriage. Maybe one day you’ll find out why, but for now suffice it to say that this is going to be difficult for everyone and your parents need you to continue to love them and do your best in school. They want to keep things as normal for you a possible, I’m sure, please be cooperative, don’t turn into a selfish teen who keeps to her room and closes out those she loves. Keep the lines of communication open. Who knows, maybe when the dust settles your family will be happier and more functional. Try not to let this take over who you are, continue as usual with your life as much as possible. See your friends, do well in school, join in the fun with your friends, just like you always have. Of course you’re sad right now, but this will pass and your friends and family want to be there for you to support you through this. So don’t change, be the good person you are and hang in there.

I am so sorry. Kids tend to blame themselves and think if only they can do this or that all the time.
there is nothing you can do to change their minds. I wish I had a magic wand that will make them fall back in love, but alas I do not have that kind of power. I am so sorry dear and I feel for you. just be there for both your parents and do well in school and remember that they both love you very much.
